WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT

By NASSIM SOLEIMANPOUR
May 30-July 1, 2018   Wyly Studio Theatre

THE PLAY YOU WILL SEE IS SEALED INSIDE AN ENVELOPE. The actor who will perform this play has never seen it. In fact, there is a new actor every performance, and they’ve only been told what is absolutely necessary:

“Do not Google this play. Prepare to impersonate a XXX.
Once you start, you must finish... NO MATTER WHAT.”

White Rabbit Red Rabbit has been called a play. But it’s a lively, global sensation that no one is allowed to talk about. Its award-winning playwright is Iranian. His words have escaped censorship and are awaiting you, the audience. Slyly humorous and audaciously pointed, this ‘theater entertainment meets social experiment’ is unlike anything, and will make you question everything. Have fun!

This performance contains adult language and references to suicide.
Recommended for people of mature Middle School age and up.

Due to the unique nature of this performance there will be no Come Early or Stay Late.

It has taken me some time to be able to sit down and write this - a lot of introspection and some troubled sleep. This “experiment”, though written in 2010, was pointedly relevant and unnerving. We just left! I witnessed only one person pausing during our exodus. Concerned? Curious? Gloating? White rabbit. Red rabbit. Life choices or destiny? Through it all my mind focused and refocused between the ‘here and now’ and the world beyond the walls of our theatrical laboratory. We are humans not rabbits; but, in the end we all just left! Kudos to Gail Cronauer and thank you to Nassim Soleimanpour and the Dallas Theater Center for bringing this poignant moment of enlightenment into our thoughts, hearts, and lives.

My wife and I had a thought: After the run of White Rabbit, Red Rabbit is complete, perhaps we could have a reunion of actors and audience members to discuss its significance.
